PE students: reflection response questions
What role does music play in your approach to exercise? When, where, how do you listen? How does music  help to motivate you?  What are some safety issues to consider?  Does the music you select depend on the activity?..i.e. the connection between bpm and song tempo.  Different music for different activities?  What would be your top ten list?

    2. Responce. I listen to my 32 gig Ipod (earbuds) when I ride my stationary bike or walk a trail or track.

  2. Music plays a definite role while exercising. When listening to music, the beat gets me going and makes it easier to exercise. I listen to the music through my I-pod with headphones. Safety concerns you must be aware of is listening to your music with the volume up all the way when crossing the street or even walking on the side walk. You must always be cautious of your surroundings. The music I choose does not affect my BPM. I listen to whatever music comes up on my list which is on shuffle. My top ten list for music would be :
    1.Hopsin- Ill Mind.
    2.MGK- Save me.
3.Immortal Technique- Dance with the devil.
    4.MGK- Hold on.
5.All the right moves- Wasted Youth
    6.MGK- Lead you on.
    7.MGK- EST for life.
    8.MGK- Save Her.
    9.Hopsin- Im not crazy.
    10.Diabolical-Soldiers logic

  3. Music plays a very big role in my approach to exercise, its a sort of source of motivation for me, being able to listen to my favorite tunes makes me want to keep going because i dont want to turn off the music. I listen to music when im running or walking to school, even during a workout video or in the gym. I think the biggest safety issues are getting tangled in the cords and possibly being unable to correct it because you might be lifting really heavy weights or something that cant be put down right away. Also having earphones in provides a very large noise barrier so if put into a hazardous situation you wont be able to hear the shouts. The songs i listen to really dont depend on what im doing, unless if its yoga which has a lower pace than for example running. In that case id chose a slower song, a smaller BPM to be able to pace myself. I enjoy looking at the songs on http://www.runhundred.com/. I get so many new songs every week thanks to subscribing to it. My current top ten in no particular order are...

    Riding solo- Jason Derulo
    Trouble maker - Olly murs
Postcards and polaroids - Sleeping with sirens
Shark in the water - V Brown
    Payphone - Maroon 5
    Shut up - Jhameel
    Tonight - Enrique Iglesias
The big bang - Rock Mafia
Chasing the sun - The wanted
Shadow of a man - Jhameel

  4. I love music, im listening to music while writing this hahaha, and if i dont have music while exercising, i wont exercise hah, i find music to be a really good distraction and motivator. I listen to music all the time, but when im working out i just wear my earbuds and either run on a treadmill or the elliptical, when im doing squats or on a machine or if im in my house ill play it on a speaker. I actually found it so funny when i was reading this cause everyone for the safety concern is like the cord getting tangled when i personally thought right away of how my parents dont let me run outside alone and said never to wearing earbuds so you wont be distracted, because there are not nice people out there who could potentially try to abduct you or worse and you have to be aware of your surroundings where ever you go and be able to here if someone is coming up behind you. If im stretching i like more slow contemporary songs vs. when im running i need fast pace songs that i know, specifically good throwback songs that i know all the worlds to so i can like mouth along to and get really into it. My top ten list would be:
    1- Single ladies-Beyonce
    2-September-Earth, Wind and Fire
    3-Rockstar-Hannah Montana
    4-Price tag- Jessie J
    5-Jessies Girl- Rick Springfield
    6-Scream and Shout-Wiz Khalifa
    7-Too cool-Meagan Martin
    8-So what-Pink
    9-Don't stop the music-Rihanna
    10-Last Friday Night-Katy Perry

  5. Music helps motivate you when you have the right songs. It’s improtant to have a connection with the song to make it more meaningful when you listen to it. Music helps pump you up and can help get your heart rate up as well. Music keeps you motivated and keeps you going. For me I have a playlist I listen to every time I workout or exercise, it consists of songs I now all the words too which makes it fun to listen too and it really helps me stay pumped and power through the set.

  6. I listen to music mainly when I am at the gym working out or at the driving range. I use music in these two specific places because it helps to pump me up and get the blood flowing, I find i can work harder as I listen to the music, because I don't have any distractions. However I do not listen to music while I am chipping or putting, I find that chipping and putting calls for precision, and music can come as a distraction especially to chipping and putting. to be good at chipping and putting you need your full concentration.
