  1. I think that this post can apply to me and my activity because I need to gain strength in my upper body to support my back injury. I think that I struggle sometimes with exercise and with strength training because of the pain. Calisthenics - using body weight to work on body muscle, seems really challenging, but I also didn't know that jogging doesn't promote the growth of body muscle. I was happy to watch the video to see that it is good for a healthy heart though. Since the leg muscles use type two fibres, there is less than no growth there because jogging doesn't use these muscles. I do push ups a lot and sit ups and these qualify as Calisthenic exercises. Interesting video to watch here.

  2. I think that this is very interesting because when I used to dance, we did a lot of push ups, sit ups, and all types of body weight workouts. It was very intense and I felt like they were very helpful for conditioning my body was it was interesting to watch this video since not all body weight exercises are that effective as I thought.

  3. The great thing about calisthenics, besides being free, is that it can be done anywhere. For many people who cannot afford a gym or do not have the time to go to one, they can still work out utilizing calisthenics. The video does point out though, that as time goes on and the muscles become stronger, one reaches a point that using just body weight as the resistance will not be enough for continued development. For me, the main benefit of calisthenics is that I can still maintain an exercise routine when I travel on band trips. We usually do not have time to use a gym if there even is one available, but I can work out in my hotel room. When my family travels, working out in a gym and having a decent pool are priorities, but when I did a road trip a couple of summers ago, we stayed in B&Bs that did not have gyms. I had to be inventive sometimes about my workout. Tricep development is important to me, so doing dips is a favourite calisthenic. In fact, because swimming requires rapid movement and strength, calisthenics are a regular part of the routine before getting into the pool for a work-out.
The squatting exercise in the first video can be done with a jump too. That helps develop a fast flip turn off of the wall. That's a good one to do regularly. I have to admit that I have not tried the specific push-up shown before, but I have done a variety of push-ups. It's an easy thing to do in a hotel room because you do not need too much room.

  4. This video was good because there is no equipment needed in order to do this workout, it was a struggle for me because i rarely ever workout like this its not just about lifting weights. I will definitely add this to my hockey workout.

  5. This is a very good workout video for everyone. No equipment is needed which is very convenient for people who aren't invested enough into fitness to buy all these different types of equipment. Although body weight exercises arent as effective, they are still key to getting a good workout. You can change up the workouts constantly and continue to push your self .

  6. Great video! It looks like there are some great (and inexpensive) ways to get your body in shape (calisthenics)but if i really want to get ripped, weight training (and diet) is the way to go, if i want my muscles to grow. I didn't realize that even though i can do 30 or 40 push ups, my body isn't really working very hard anymore to accomplish this.

  7. Very great excersise video to get started on calisthenics (bodyweight training). In my opinion, calisthenics is great to get your body toned but won't gain as much musles when weight lifting. Weight lifting is simply better to gain muscle because its putting more stress on your muscle than with calisthenics, you are just using your bodyweight and not as much stress. Otherwise, great video!

  11. I think using your own body weight to start training is very smart and efficient. For people who do not have easy access to equipment this is a good way to start. also for those who are not sure how committed they are to weight training and do not want to waste money on a membership or home equipment if they do not stick to it.

  13. Great workout video. I like that there are no extra equipment needed for this. Using ones own body weight is sometimes enough. I'm a girl and would only use little weights and bands if I add them in to increase my workout. I definitely don't want to get big by using the kind of weights my older brother uses. Calisthenics work great for this reason.

  14. This is a very good video especially during a time like we are in now with all the quarantine we cannot go out to gyms to exercise. It is good that there is no equipment involved which makes it easy to do whenever you want. Also this is a good way to start exercising as hauling your own body weight can sometimes be difficult at the start.
